A hospital's doors never rest. The main entrance and the corridor doors swing all day and all night. Closers wear out, hinges drop and handles work loose. Ward windows stop shutting, leak in the rain or let the cool air out.

Fabrockers repairs these things for hospitals, nursing homes, diagnostic centres and labs in Bengaluru and Delhi NCR. Our own team does the visit and the work. You get a written price before any work starts. We usually plan the job with you, area by area, at a quiet hour.

The work we do for hospitals

Grouped by where it is on your premises. Each job shows its live starting price.

The hospital's main entrance and corridor swing doors

Entrance and corridor doors in a hospital swing all day and all night. The closer wears first. On a glass door it is usually a floor spring, a closer set in a metal box in the floor. Then the door slams near a ward or drifts open. We change the closer, hinges or handle and set a soft close.

Sliding glass doors at the hospital entrance and waiting areas

A sliding glass door runs on small wheels called rollers, along a track. Trolleys and wheelchairs knock the bottom track, and dust fills it. Then the door drags, jumps or stops short. We change the rollers, repair or replace the track and set the door level. We do not service the motors of automatic sensor doors.

Aluminium doors to wards, labs and hospital wash rooms

Aluminium doors to wards, labs and wash rooms get pushed by trolleys and shoulders all day. Hinges loosen, the door drops, and then it rubs the frame or sticks. Gaps open around the edges and the cool air escapes. We change hinges, locks and handles, seal the gaps and set the door to shut properly.

Ward windows that will not shut, leak or rattle

A ward window that will not shut lets the cool air out and the noise in. The cause is usually a worn roller, a broken handle or a hard, shrunken rubber seal. In the rain the same window leaks onto the sill. We change the worn parts, reseal the frame and check that every window locks.

Mosquito mesh for ward, canteen and staff room windows

Wards, canteens and staff rooms often need the windows open for air. A mesh lets the air in and keeps mosquitoes and flies out. We fit new mesh frames made to each window's size. We also change torn mesh in frames you already have. A canteen door to the outside can take a sliding mesh door.

Broken glass in a hospital door, window or corridor

Broken glass where patients and visitors walk cannot wait. We usually come the same day and make it safe. We take out the loose pieces and cover the opening. New toughened glass, which is safety glass, is made to the measured size. That usually takes a few days. We also refix glass that has come loose in its frame.

Hospital reception and billing counter glass, mirrors and stair railings

Reception and billing counters often have a glass screen with a gap for passing papers. We make these to size, along with mirrors for wash rooms and changing rooms. Glass railings on stairs and ramps work loose as people lean on them. We change the clamps, the metal grips that hold the glass, and replace a cracked panel.

Planning repairs around a working hospital

A hospital does not close, so there is no empty hour like a shop has. We usually plan the work with your maintenance team, area by area. A corridor door can often be done late in the evening, when fewer people pass. A ward window is best done when that room is free. A diagnostic centre or a lab can usually give us the hours after closing. Our office hours are Monday to Saturday, 9am to 8pm. You can also ask for night or Sunday work. Drilling is noisy for a short time, and we tell you before we start it.

What a hospital maintenance team should send us

Send a photo or a short video on WhatsApp. For a swing door, film it opening and closing on its own. For a sliding door, photograph the bottom track, and the rollers if you can see them. For a window, show the handle, the rubber seal and where the water comes in. We can usually tell from these what the job needs. If you have many faults, send one list with the floor and the room for each. We then give you one written price. Nothing is due until you approve it.

Hospital doors we do not repair

Some hospital doors need a specialist maker, and we say so plainly. We do not repair fire-rated doors. We do not repair lead-lined doors for X-ray rooms, or operating theatre doors. We also do no new carpentry, welding, plumbing or electrical work. On a wooden door we only change the hardware and set the alignment. Our work is the everyday doors, windows, mesh and glass around them. If you are not sure which kind a door is, send us a photo. We will tell you if it is not our work.

Looking after many doors across one hospital site

A large hospital has a great many doors and windows, and they do not fail together. We can walk the building with your team once and list every fault by floor. Small repairs, like a closer, a handle or a roller, are often done in one visit. Glass and other made-to-size parts take a few days. Most jobs finish in 3 to 4 days. We work on one floor or one wing at a time. The rest of the building then carries on as normal. You get one written price for the whole list.

Questions hospitals ask us

Can you fix a hospital corridor door that slams near the wards?

Yes. A slamming door usually means the closer has lost its oil or its setting. We replace the closer, or the floor spring under a glass door, and set the closing speed. The door then shuts softly. This is usually one visit, and we can come at a quiet hour.

When can you work inside a hospital without disturbing patients?

It depends on the area. We usually agree a time with your maintenance or admin team for each part of the building. Corridors are often best late in the evening. Rooms are best when they are empty. You can also ask us for night or Sunday work.

A glass door at our nursing home has cracked. How fast can you come?

Cracked or broken glass is usually made safe the same day. We remove loose glass and secure or cover the opening. The new toughened glass is made to the size we measure, because it cannot be cut afterwards. That usually takes a few days. We then come back and fit it.

Can you fit mosquito mesh on ward windows without changing the windows?

Usually, yes. We measure each window and make a mesh frame to fit it. The frame fixes to your existing aluminium, uPVC or wooden window. A sliding window can take a sliding mesh panel. Send us a photo of one window from inside, and we will say which type suits it.

Our diagnostic centre's sliding glass door is hard to push. What is wrong?

It is usually the rollers, the small wheels that carry the door. They wear flat or fill with dust. Sometimes a trolley has bent the bottom track. We change the rollers and repair the track. Send a short video of the door moving, and we can usually tell which it is.

Do you give a hospital one price for many doors and windows?

Yes. Send one list, or let us walk the building with your team. We write one price that names each door and window. Nothing is due until you approve it. We then do the work area by area, so only one part of the hospital is disturbed at a time.
