A school has a great many windows and doors. Each one is opened and shut many times a day. So glass cracks, handles break, rollers wear and mesh tears. Rain then comes in through the windows that will not close.

Our own Fabrockers team repairs all of this in Bengaluru and Delhi NCR. We do not subcontract. We can work after the last bell, on a Sunday or in the holidays. You get a written price before any work starts.

The work we do for schools

Grouped by where it is on your premises. Each job shows its live starting price.

Broken and loose classroom window glass

A ball or a slammed shutter can crack a classroom pane. We make broken glass safe the same day. Tell us which room it is, and keep students away until we come. New toughened glass is made to the measured size, so it takes a few days. We also refix loose panes that rattle in the frame.

Classroom windows that will not close or slide

A sliding window runs on small wheels called rollers, inside a track. Dust and grit fill the track, and the rollers wear flat. Then the window sticks half open or will not lock. We clean the track and change the rollers, handles or locks. We repair both aluminium and uPVC windows.

Rain coming into classrooms and corridors

In the monsoon, rain comes in through worn window rubbers and blocked drain holes. Water then sits on the sill and runs down the classroom wall. A door that opens onto an open corridor can leak at its bottom edge too. We find where the water enters first. Then we clear the drains, change the rubbers or seal the gap.

Mosquito mesh for classrooms, hostels and dining halls

Classrooms need open windows for air, and open windows let mosquitoes in. We fit mesh made to each window, in a powder-coated aluminium frame. Powder coating is a baked-on colour finish. Hostel rooms and dining halls can have sliding mesh doors as well. Where the old frame is sound, we replace only the torn mesh.

Classroom, staff room and wash room doors

These doors are pushed and slammed all day. An aluminium door drops on its hinges and scrapes the floor. A wooden door sticks in its frame after rain. We reset the door and change the hinges, locks or handles. On wooden doors we repair hardware and alignment only. We do no new carpentry.

The school office and reception glass door

Every visiting parent uses the glass door at the school office. Its closer is often a floor spring, a closer set in a metal box in the floor. When the spring wears, the door slams or stays open. We change the floor spring, the lock or the handle. Then we set the door to close softly.

Glass railings on school stairs and corridors

A glass railing is held by metal clamps, or by a channel at its base. With daily use the clamps work loose, and a panel starts to move. A loose panel should be looked at soon, not left for the holidays. We tighten or change the clamps. A chipped or cracked panel is replaced with new toughened glass.

Notice board glass, mirrors and hostel wardrobe doors

We supply glass made to size for notice boards, display cases and table tops. We also fit mirrors for wash rooms, activity rooms and hostel rooms. Hostel wardrobes with sliding doors often jump off their track. We change the rollers and guides, and set the doors to run straight.

Working around the school timetable

Our office hours are Monday to Saturday, 9am to 8pm. Small repairs, such as a handle, a roller or a lock, are usually one visit. We can do them after the last bell, when the rooms are empty. Larger jobs fit best on a Sunday or in the holidays. Most jobs are done in 3 to 4 days. New toughened glass is made to size and takes a few days to arrive. So ask us before the holidays begin, not during them. Tell us your term dates, and we plan the work around them.

One visit to list every window in a school block

A school rarely has one fault. It has a stiff window in one room and a torn mesh in the next. So we can walk a whole block in one visit. We list every window, door and railing that needs work, room by room. You get a written price for that list before any work starts. Nothing is due until you approve it. If some items are urgent, tell us, and we plan those first. For a single fault, a photo or a short video on WhatsApp is usually enough.

Safety glass where students walk and play

Ordinary glass breaks into long, sharp pieces. Toughened glass is safety glass. When it breaks, it falls into small blunt pieces. That matters in a corridor, beside a staircase or near a playground. When a pane breaks, you can ask us to replace it with toughened glass. Toughened glass cannot be cut after it is toughened. So we measure the opening first, and the glass is made to that exact size. That is why a new pane takes a few days. We make the broken one safe on the first day.

What we do not do at a school

We do not make new wooden doors, windows or furniture, because we do no carpentry. We do not weld steel grilles or gates, and we do not repair rolling shutters. We do not do plumbing, electrical work or tiling. We do not service fire-rated doors or lifts. We do supply and fit new aluminium and uPVC windows and doors, and new glass railings. We also build glass partitions for offices and staff rooms. If you are not sure whether a job is ours, send a photo and ask.

Questions schools ask us

A classroom window broke during school hours. How soon can you come?

We make broken glass safe the same day. Keep students out of that room, and do not pick up the pieces by hand. Send us a photo and the rough size of the pane. The new toughened glass is made to the measured size, so it takes a few days.

Can you repair school windows after the last bell or on a Sunday?

Yes. Small repairs are usually done after the last bell, in one visit. Schools can also ask for Sunday work, so no class is disturbed. Larger jobs, such as mesh for a whole block, fit best in the holidays. Tell us your timetable when you ask.

Can one visit cover every window and door in a school block?

Yes. We walk the block with your maintenance head and list every fault, room by room. You then get a written price for the whole list. Nothing is due until you approve it. Many small repairs on that list can be done together, which saves you repeat visits.

Which mosquito mesh suits classroom and hostel windows?

It depends on how the window opens. A sliding window usually gets a sliding mesh panel. A window that opens outward gets a hinged one. We use stainless steel mesh, which does not rust in wet air. If your old frames are sound, we can replace only the torn mesh.

Do you repair wooden classroom doors?

We repair the hardware on wooden classroom doors. That means hinges, locks, handles, and a door that sticks or has dropped. We do no new carpentry, so we cannot make a new wooden door or frame. We can replace a worn wooden door with an aluminium or uPVC one.

A glass railing panel on our school staircase is loose. What should we do?

Keep students away from that part of the railing until it is checked. Send us a short video of the panel moving. Usually a clamp has worked loose or a fixing has worn. We tighten or change the clamps. A chipped or cracked panel is replaced with new toughened glass, made to size.
