These sectors were built plot by plot, each house by a different owner in a different year to a different plan. The result is that nothing here is standard. Two houses side by side can have bathrooms of completely different proportions, and that is the single fact that governs how we quote.
Why we will not quote from a neighbour's job
People often ask for the same price as the house next door, which is reasonable and usually wrong.\n\nOn a plotted street the bathrooms are genuinely different sizes, and glass is priced by area. A room a foot wider is a real difference in cost.\n\nSo we measure yours rather than working from the last one. It takes twenty minutes and it means the figure we give you is the figure at the end. A quote given over the phone from a neighbour's price is a guess that gets corrected on fitting day.
Self-built walls and what a level tells us
Houses built individually vary in how square they are, and that variation is not related to how good the house looks.\n\nFrameless glass cannot take up any error. A slim frame can take up a fair amount.\n\nSo the level goes on all three walls before we recommend one or the other, in every house, even where the finish looks excellent. It is a two-minute check that decides whether the enclosure will seal, and it is the reason we do not quote without seeing the room.
Tiling that has already been done
In an existing bathroom the tiling sets the limits, because the enclosure has to land on it sensibly.\n\nA fixing that lands on a tile edge or a grout line is weaker and far more likely to crack the tile.\n\nSo we set out the fixing positions against the actual tile layout rather than at a standard spacing. Sometimes that moves the enclosure an inch from where it was drawn. It is worth it - a cracked tile around a fixing is both a weak point and a permanent eyesore.
How the job works
- Tell us about the jobSend a few photos, rough sizes and what you need. Use WhatsApp or the form. For a repair, a short video of the door moving helps a lot.
- We call you back in about 2 minutesWe confirm what you need and a time to visit. Where we can, we give you a rough price on the call.
- We come and measureWe measure the opening and check the walls, floor and ceiling around it. Anything made to size is made to these measurements, so they must be right.
- You get a written priceIt lists each item, with GST as its own line. If anything about the job changes, we tell you before we go ahead.
- We fit itYou approve the price and pay the advance. Our own team fits the work, checks that every door and window opens and closes properly, and clears up. Most jobs are done in 3 to 4 days.
