In a standard market unit the door position is the one real layout decision, and putting it centrally is usually wrong.\n\nA central door splits the frontage into two small display areas and puts customers in the middle of the shop.\n\nSetting the door to one side gives one continuous display run and leaves the interior usable. It is the arrangement almost every well-laid-out unit in a market like this uses, and it is decided at the frontage stage rather than later.
Working within what the market allows
Huda markets generally have expectations about how far a frontage may project, what may be fixed above the opening and what happens to the common walkway.\n\nThose are worth establishing before designing rather than after building.\n\nSo we ask what neighbouring units have been allowed and keep within it.
