Villa bathrooms here are big enough to hold a bath and a shower and still have dry floor, which is a layout most homes cannot attempt. Done well it means you never walk on wet tile. Done badly it means a large room where the water still gets everywhere, and the difference is entirely in where the glass goes.
Separating the wet zone from the dry one
The point of a large bathroom is that the shower and the bath can sit together in one wet zone, with the basin and the rest of the room permanently dry.\n\nThat only works if the glass encloses the whole wet zone rather than just the shower.\n\nSo we look at the room as two areas rather than as a shower plus everything else. A single long screen separating the two often works better than a cubicle around the shower, and it usually costs less because there is no door.
A bath and a shower behind the same glass
Where both sit in one wet zone, the screen has to cope with splash from two sources at different heights.\n\nA bath throws water sideways at low level; a shower throws it further and higher.\n\nSo the screen needs to run to the floor with a proper base seal rather than stopping above a bath edge, and it wants to be tall enough for the shower rather than sized for the bath. Getting that wrong is why some very expensive bathrooms still have a wet floor.
Drainage across a large wet area
A large wet zone collects water across a wide floor, and one small drain at one end may not cope.\n\nThe result is standing water at the far corner after every shower, which is unpleasant and bad for the grout.\n\nSo the floor needs to fall from every direction towards the drain, not just along one axis. That is a tiling decision taken before we arrive, so it is worth raising with whoever lays the floor, and we check it while measuring.
