Most of this work forms part of a complete bathroom renovation rather than a standalone fitting, which means we are one of several trades and the sequence decides whether it goes smoothly. Being brought in at the right point saves more money than any choice about the glass.
The right moment to involve us
The useful point is when the bathroom is stripped and before the tiler starts.\n\nAt that stage the wet area can be set out to suit the enclosure, the floor falls laid to match, and any niche positioned clear of the glass line.\n\nAfterwards all three are fixed and the enclosure has to work around them. It costs nothing to ask at that point because we are quoting anyway, and it removes nearly every compromise that otherwise appears at the end.
Glass goes in last, after everything else
The enclosure should be the final item in a bathroom renovation: after tiling, after sanitaryware, after any painting.\n\nFitted earlier it gets damaged by the trades that follow, and it makes their work harder, which usually ends with the silicone joint being disturbed.\n\nSo we ask what is still outstanding before booking a fitting date. A week's wait for the painter saves re-sealing a joint that has been knocked, and it is a much better order of work than protecting glass through a fit-out.
Measuring after tiling, not before
Glass has to be cut to the finished tiled dimension, not to the bare wall, and tiling adds a surprising amount in a small room.\n\nSo we measure once the tiling is complete, which means there is a gap between measuring and fitting while the glass is made.\n\nThat gap is unavoidable and it is worth building into the programme rather than discovering it. Where somebody wants the enclosure on the day the tiler finishes, the answer is that the glass has to be cut to something, and guessing the tile thickness is how gaps appear.
