Why a villa bathroom has more options
In a villa the drainage is yours alone and usually runs at ground or within your own floor, so moving an outlet is a real possibility.\n\nThat means the enclosure can go where it suits the room rather than where the drain already is.\n\nIn a flat the waste joins a vertical stack serving the whole column, running through the structure, and moving it is effectively impossible. So we ask which you are in before discussing layout at all, because the honest range of options differs completely.
Working in a flat where the stack is shared
In an apartment the bathroom wall often has the stack or a branch pipe inside it, and the tiling gives no clue which wall.\n\nA fixing into that pipe affects every flat below yours, not just your own bathroom.\n\nSo we work out the route from the positions of the WC and outlet, and scan where there is doubt. Where a wall is uncertain, we put the load into the other two rather than take the chance. In a villa that caution is less critical; in a flat it is essential.
