The floors here have gone up over the past several years, built by different people to different standards. So two buildings on the same street can be quite different inside, and the only reliable way to quote is to see the room. What varies most is how square the walls are and how the floor drains.
What we check before recommending anything
Three things decide the specification, and all three are quick.\n\nIs the tiling sound, are the walls flat and square, and does the floor fall towards the drain.\n\nIf all three pass, an enclosure goes onto the bathroom as it is, frameless included, with no other work. Where one fails, the answer changes — usually to a frame with tolerance, or to leaving the base open at one point. We say which applies rather than quoting a standard package.
Fixings in a recently built wall
In a newer building the walls may be solid brick, block or a thinner partition, and they look identical once tiled.\n\nA glass panel is heavy, and a fixing gripping only a thin face will come out with the panel attached.\n\nSo we test-drill before quoting rather than after starting. Where a wall will not take the load we design so the weight goes into the walls that will, which is a design decision rather than an extra cost.
Getting it right in one visit
Most of these are straightforward jobs, and the thing that turns them into two visits is a measurement that was not taken.\n\nSo we measure more than the enclosure needs: every wall at three heights, both diagonals, the ceiling, the door swing and the route in.\n\nMost of it is never used. The point is that no question can arise while the glass is being cut, which is what lets us fit in a single visit rather than returning.
How the job works
- Tell us about the jobSend a few photos, rough sizes and what you need. Use WhatsApp or the form. For a repair, a short video of the door moving helps a lot.
- We call you back in about 2 minutesWe confirm what you need and a time to visit. Where we can, we give you a rough price on the call.
- We come and measureWe measure the opening and check the walls, floor and ceiling around it. Anything made to size is made to these measurements, so they must be right.
- You get a written priceIt lists each item, with GST as its own line. If anything about the job changes, we tell you before we go ahead.
- We fit itYou approve the price and pay the advance. Our own team fits the work, checks that every door and window opens and closes properly, and clears up. Most jobs are done in 3 to 4 days.
