Almost nobody is told what fitting a shower enclosure actually involves, which makes it hard to plan around. It is a small job with a fixed shape, and knowing the sequence and the real timings in advance removes most of the uncertainty people find annoying about it.
The survey, and why nothing can be ordered before it
The first visit takes about twenty minutes: levelling all three walls, checking the corner, putting a straight edge across the wall face, checking the floor fall, sounding the tiling, and measuring the route in.\n\nThen the footprint goes on the floor in tape so you can walk it.\n\nNothing can be ordered before that, because those checks decide the layout, the specification and the price. A quote given without them is an estimate that changes, which helps nobody.
The wait while glass is made
Once the order is placed the glass is cut to your measurements and then toughened, and toughened glass cannot be cut or drilled afterwards.\n\nThat is why the measuring has to be right and why it takes a few days rather than being available off a shelf.\n\nFor a straightforward enclosure it is usually within a week. Where the glass is unusually large, a special shape, or a finish that has to come in, it is longer, and we say which yours is when you order rather than when you chase.
Fitting day, and the evening after it
Fitting a straightforward enclosure is roughly half a day: setting out, drilling, fixing the channels, glazing, then sealing.\n\nThe bathroom is usable that evening, except the shower itself.\n\nThe silicone has to cure before water touches it, which is normally overnight rather than an hour, and using it early is the commonest reason a new enclosure leaks at the base. We give you the actual time on the day, because it varies with the sealant and the weather.

- We fit itYou approve the price and pay the advance. Our own team fits the work, checks that every door and window opens and closes properly, and clears up. Most jobs are done in 3 to 4 days.
