A shower enclosure in Dwarka is a straightforward day's work wrapped in a society's process. The bathrooms repeat from flat to flat, so the measuring and the making are predictable. What decides your date is the gate register, the lift booking and, in some societies, a deposit - and all three are avoidable delays if they are started early enough.
Sequencing the society against the glass
There are two clocks running and they should run together rather than one after the other.
The glass clock is three to five working days: cutting, drilling the fixing holes, and toughening. Nothing shortens it, because toughening is a heat process and a panel cannot be drilled after it.
The society clock is usually two to four days: the NOC, the names for the register, the lift slot.
Started at the same time, they finish together and the society costs you nothing. Started in sequence, you wait a week for something that could have happened while your glass was in the furnace. So we ask at the measuring visit who runs the society office and what they want.
What repeating flats let us do
Within a Dwarka society the flats are built to a handful of plans, so bathrooms of the same type repeat across floors and blocks.
That has a practical consequence. After a few jobs in a block we know the bathroom before we walk into it, which makes the measuring visit short and the quote firm rather than provisional.
It also makes shared jobs unusually easy here. If two or three flats in the same block want the same enclosure, the glass is made in one batch, the panels come in one delivery, and one lift booking covers all of them. The measuring visit, the delivery and the team's day are the costs that do not shrink with a small job, so sharing them is where the real saving is.
Which way the door should open
In a compact society bathroom this is the decision that most affects whether you like the enclosure, and it is settled on site rather than on paper.
A hinged door needs clear space to swing into, and in a small bathroom that space is often occupied by the WC or the basin. Where it is, the answer is a sliding door on a track, or a fixed panel with a walk-in gap and no door at all.
We check the swing physically while measuring - open a hand where the door edge will travel and see what it meets. It sounds obvious. It is also the single most common thing people get wrong when they order an enclosure by size alone.
