A family bathroom in the morning sees heavy, rapid use, and anything that has to be operated carefully will not be.\n\nSo a door that needs lifting slightly to close, or a catch that has to be lined up, fails quickly in this setting.\n\nThe answer is a design with nothing to align: a sliding door that cannot be mis-latched, or no door at all. It is a less refined specification than we would suggest for a rarely used guest bathroom, and it is the right one here.
Hot water, and what it does to seals
Seals and gaskets in a shower used many times a day spend far more of their life hot and wet than in an occasional bathroom.\n\nHeat is what ages a seal, so the same part fails considerably sooner in a busy household.\n\nSo we fit better seals here as standard rather than as an upgrade, and we tell you which part will need replacing first and roughly when. Knowing that a seal is a wear item, and cheap, stops it being treated as a fault with the enclosure.
Keeping the rest of the flat dry
In a busy bathroom water leaves the shower area constantly, and in a flat that means it reaches a passage or a bedroom door.\n\nThat is usually a threshold problem rather than an enclosure problem.\n\nSo we look at what happens at the bathroom doorway as well as inside the enclosure. A small threshold strip and a floor that actually falls to the drain do more to keep a flat dry than any upgrade to the glass, and they cost a fraction of it.
