A black frame is not the same as a framed enclosure
We build a framed shower partition as well, and it costs ₹850 per sq ft. It is worth being clear about the difference, because the two are easy to confuse.
A normal framed enclosure sets the glass inside a channel on every edge. The channel takes the weight and takes up the gap when a wall is out of straight. It is a cheaper way to build, and it is the sensible answer in an older bathroom.
This one is the other way round. The glass carries itself, exactly as a frameless enclosure does, and the frame is a slim outline fixed around it. It is there for the look.
So you are not paying for a frame that does structural work. You are paying for about 34 running feet of black profile, cut, mitred and fixed by hand. The glass underneath would have stood up without it.
The finish, and why powder coating matters
The frame and every fitting on it are powder-coated. That means the colour is a dry powder baked onto the metal in an oven, not paint sprayed on and left to dry.
The difference shows in a bathroom within a year. Sprayed paint chips where a handle is gripped and lifts at cut edges where water gets under it. A baked coating does not.
We cut and mitre the frame on site, and every cut edge gets sealed before it goes up. A raw aluminium cut left open is where corrosion starts, and it is the part nobody thinks about.
We also keep the frame, the hinges and the handle from one supplier. Black is not one colour. Two makers give you two blacks, and side by side on the same door you will never stop seeing it.
The bathroom this suits
Pale tiles and a plain room. Black works because it is the only strong line in the space, and it needs the room around it to be quiet.
It also suits a bathroom where the walls are good. This frame follows the glass, so it will not hide a wall that leans. If your wall is visibly out of straight, our ordinary framed partition at ₹850 is the better and cheaper answer, and we will say so at the visit.
It is a strong look, and it dates faster than clear frameless glass does. That is worth saying out loud. If this is a bathroom you plan to redo in five years, it is a good choice. If you want something you will not think about for fifteen, plain frameless glass is the safer buy.
We would rather tell you that now than sell you the dearer one.
What decides the price
₹1,112 per sq ft is the starting rate. A normal 35 sq ft enclosure comes to about ₹38,900 before GST.
The glass is the same clear toughened glass as our ₹850 enclosure. The whole difference is the metalwork: about 34 running feet of black frame profile, black hinges, a black handle, black seals and black corner joints, plus the extra time to cut, mitre and fix the frame.
So the price follows the perimeter, not the area. A tall narrow enclosure has more frame per square foot of glass than a wide low one, and it prices a little higher.
After that the usual things apply: the total area of glass, a thicker panel on a tall run, and how easy your bathroom is to reach.
