This enclosure is two bands of glass, one above the other. The lower band is clear, so the floor and the tiling stay on view and the bathroom keeps feeling open. The upper band is fluted, which means fine ribs running down the glass. That is the band at body and head height, so it is the band that gives you privacy. A slim rail joins them. It suits a large shower in a room that other people walk through. Prices start at ₹1,170 per sq ft.
Privacy where a person actually stands
Most people ask for privacy glass and then get it everywhere, floor to ceiling. That is more than the job needs.
Nobody is looking at the bottom two feet of a shower. That part of the glass shows the floor, the tiling and the drain, and those are the parts that make a bathroom look bigger.
What you want covered is the band from about chest height upward. So that is the band we make fluted, and we leave the rest clear.
The result reads as a designed choice rather than a compromise. And it costs less than an all-fluted enclosure, because only about 40 percent of the glass is the expensive kind.
The joint rail, and why the line sits where it does
The two bands are separate sheets of glass. They are joined by a slim horizontal rail that grips the bottom edge of the upper sheet and the top edge of the lower one.
The rail does real work. It carries the weight of the upper band and keeps both sheets in one flat plane. It is sealed on the shower side so water cannot sit inside it.
We set the line at about 3.5 feet from the floor as standard. That clears the top of a normal shower tray, sits above the height most fittings are set at, and lands below shoulder height on nearly everyone.
We can move it. Tell us at the measuring visit if you want it higher or lower. Once the glass is cut, the line cannot be changed, so this is a decision to make before the advance.
What is different about fitting it
Twice as many panels, and one line that has to be dead level all the way round.
On a straight run that is a careful morning. On a three-sided enclosure like the one in the picture, the rail has to meet itself at both corners at exactly the same height, or the eye picks it up immediately.
So we set the rail first, right around, and check it with a level at every corner before any glass goes in. Then the lower panels, then the upper panels, then the door, then the seals.
It is normally a full day rather than the half day a plain enclosure takes. That extra time is in the rate, not added afterwards.
What decides the price
₹1,170 per sq ft is the starting rate. A 35 sq ft enclosure comes to about ₹41,000 before GST.
Three things put it above a plain clear enclosure. The fluted band, which is glass costing more than twice what clear costs. The joint rail and its extra connectors. And the extra half day on site to set that line level.
It costs less than a fully fluted enclosure for one reason: less than half the glass here is fluted.
After that, the usual things move it. The total area. Where you want the line, because a higher line means more fluted glass and less clear. The fittings finish. And how easy the bathroom is to reach.
