A fixed panel is the simplest shower screen there is. One sheet of toughened glass stands between the shower and the rest of the bathroom, with an open gap to walk through. Toughened glass is safety glass. There is no door, no hinge and no track. So it is the easiest to clean and the cheapest enclosure we build. Prices start at ₹620 per sq ft.

What a walk-in panel does, and does not do

It stops most of the spray. In a bathroom where the floor slopes well towards the drain, a well-placed fixed panel keeps the basin, the towels and the doorway dry.

What it does not do is close the shower off fully. Some steam and a little spray will escape through the open entry. In a well-drained wet room that is not a problem, and many people prefer it. The bathroom feels open, and there is no door to clean around.

It suits larger bathrooms best, where the panel can sit far enough from the shower head to catch the spray. In a very small bathroom the panel ends up close to the outlet, and a door is usually the better answer.

We will tell you honestly at the measuring visit which one your bathroom suits.

Why the glass matters more here

A fixed panel stands on its own. There is no door frame or return panel to brace it, so the glass has to do all the work.

That means a good thickness, usually 12mm for a full-height walk-in panel, and firm fixing at the floor and the wall. Where a panel is very tall or wide, we add a support bar from the top of the glass back to the wall or ceiling.

We polish the exposed upright edge. Unlike a framed panel, it is on show and people touch it.

The glass is toughened, so it is far stronger than normal glass of the same thickness. If it ever breaks, it breaks into small blunt bits, not sharp pieces.

The job is short, and here is the sequence

Send a photo of the bathroom and the width you have in mind. We usually reply the same day.

We measure after the tiling is done. At that visit we check the slope of the floor, decide where the panel should sit to catch the spray well, and confirm whether a support bar is needed.

You get a written price. An advance covers the materials, and the glass takes four to six working days to make.

Fitting is short, often just a few hours. We fix and level the channel or brackets, put the panel in, and run the silicone line at the floor and wall. Wait about a day before using the shower.

Why a fixed panel costs less

It costs less than any other enclosure, and that is the point of it.

There is no door. So there are no hinges, no lock, no track and no closing gear. What is left is the glass, the fixing channel or brackets, and a short time on site.

What moves the price is the size of the panel, the thickness, and whether a support bar is needed. Frosting is charged by the area we treat. A black channel instead of silver is a small extra.

And access, as always. A ground floor bathroom is quicker than a high floor with a booked lift.

What customers say

4.7from 6 reviews of this work

  • Yamini ChettiarKoramangala, Bengaluru★★★★★

Simple walk-in panel, and just what our bathroom needed. Nothing to clean around, and the floor stays dry.

  • Pranshu AhlawatWhitefield, Bengaluru★★★★★

Fitted in about three hours from start to finish. The polished edge looks very good, and there is no channel collecting water.

  • Leela KurienIndiranagar, Bengaluru★★★★

Good panel and a very fair price. A little steam does escape, as they warned, which we do not mind at all.

  • Sarvesh WagleBTM Layout, Bengaluru★★★★★

Over a year old and completely solid. They added a support bar at the top because the panel is tall, and it has never moved.

  • Noor RampuriaYelahanka, Bengaluru★★★★★

They told me not to have a door for our layout, which cost them money. It ended up cheaper and better than what I had asked for.

  • Baldev TutejaJP Nagar, Bengaluru★★★★

We frosted the lower half for privacy, and it works well. A simple job, done properly.

Common questions

Will water splash out without a door?

A little, and how much depends on your bathroom. With a good slope towards the drain, and the panel placed to catch the spray, the dry half of the bathroom stays dry in normal use. Some steam will always escape through the open entry. In a small bathroom where the panel sits close to the shower head, a door is usually the better choice, and we will say so.

Is a fixed panel cheaper than a full enclosure?

Yes, and usually by a clear margin. There is no door, so no hinges, lock, track or closing gear, and those fittings are the largest single item on a small enclosure. It is the most economical shower screen we build, at ₹620 per sq ft.

How quickly can you fit one if my bathroom is ready?

Usually within a week. The glass takes four to six working days to cut, polish and toughen after you approve the price. The fitting itself is often only a few hours. It is the quickest shower job we do.

Is a single unframed sheet of glass safe?

Yes, when it is the right glass and fixed correctly. The glass is toughened, which is safety glass. It is several times stronger than normal glass, and it is thick enough to stand on its own. We fix it into a channel or brackets at the floor and wall, and on a tall or wide panel we add a support bar back to the wall. If it ever breaks, it breaks into blunt bits, not sharp pieces.

Can I get privacy without losing the open feel?

Yes. The usual way is to frost the lower two-thirds of the panel and leave the top clear, and it works well. A full frosted panel gives complete privacy, but it does cut the light. Both are applied before the glass is toughened, so you need to choose before the panel is made.
